Dialtone is an audio guestbook for weddings and events. Guests pick up a retro phone, hear your personalised greeting, then leave a message after the beep. Think of it like a voicemail box… but way more fun (and way more emotional).
Super simple:
- Guests pick up the phone
- They hear your greeting
- They leave a message
- They hang up
That’s it - no apps, no WiFi, no fuss.
Nope. Dialtone doesn’t need WiFi.
Power depends on the model, but we’ll make it clear when you book (and we’ll include everything you need either way).
Somewhere guests will actually use it, but ideally not right next to the speakers.
A quiet-ish spot works best:
- near the bar
- in the entrance area
- in a side room / lounge corner
- next to the guest book / card table
We also include a little sign so people know what to do.
It’ll still record, but you’ll get better audio if it’s not directly next to the dancefloor speaker stack.
If it has to be near the action, don’t stress - we can usually tidy it up a bit afterwards, but we can’t remove all background noise completely.
Totally depends on your guests (and how much they’ve had to drink 😄).
Some couples get 20–30 messages, others get 100+. The best way to get loads is:
- put it somewhere visible
- mention it in a speech
- have your DJ/MC give it a shoutout
Yes! And it’s one of the best parts.
You can record something sweet, funny, or both - like:
“Hi! You’ve reached the wedding of Jess & Tom. Leave us a message after the beep!”
After your event, we’ll send you a digital link with all your audio messages to download and keep forever.
We keep recordings for a minimum of 90 days after delivery, just in case you need a re-send or you lose the link.
If we ever change that retention period in the future, we’ll always email you before anything is deleted.
Usually yes if it’s covered and kept dry (think marquee, tipi, sheltered terrace).
If it’s exposed to weather, rain, or evening damp - it’s a no. These are vintage-style phones, not garden tools 😅

No tech skills required
Yes - the whole point is recording messages, and we include signage to make it clear.
If someone doesn’t want to be recorded, they just shouldn’t use the phone.
Only if you say yes.
At checkout you’ll get a YES/NO option to opt in to us using short clips for marketing. If you opt out, we won’t use them.
You’re responsible for the equipment while it’s with you (including damage caused by guests).
That said - these things are built to handle normal event use. Just keep it away from drinks, kids doing WWE moves, and the edge of a table.

It’s rare, but if something’s genuinely faulty on our end we’ll always do what we can to make it right.
It usually arrives 1–3 days before your event, so you’ve got time to check everything.
Returning is easy - we include the return instructions, and you send it back using the agreed method on the return date.
As early as you can - peak wedding season dates go fast.
If your date is soon, still message us. If we’ve got availability we’ll make it happen.
